Pool Maintenance Tips

Skim Debris and Clean out Baskets

Skimming the floating debris on top of your pool can be the quickest and easiest way to keep your pool nice and clean. Once the debris sinks it will be harder to remove. Use your net to remove any unwanted leaves and bugs among other things.

Vacuum Your Swimming Pool and Brush Walls and Tile

Vacuuming the pool every week should be a priority in your house. This keeps the swimming pools water clean and helps reduce the amount of chemicals you will need to add. To prevent larger problems, brushing the swimming pools walls and tile will help you minimize algae buildup and calcium deposits.

Clean the Swimming Pool Filter

Cleaning your filter too often may harm the filtration process. If the filter is clean it becomes less efficient . It is recommended that you let the filter build a mild amount of dirt to help trap other dirt particles. But be careful to not let the filter get too dirty. If the there is an increase in the flow between the pressure gauge and the flow meter this can be a sign that the filter needs to be cleaned. When the difference reaches around 10 to 15 pounds it is suggested you clean it.

Check and Maintain Water Level

Ensure it doesn’t fall below the level of the skimmer; otherwise the pump could be damaged. If the water is low, use a garden hose to bring it up to safe levels. A general rule: it’s best to leave water in a pool throughout the winter because the weight of the water counteracts with forces from the ground pressing up against the pool from below.

Maintain the pH Level

Checking your pool’s water regularly is very important for the health and cleanliness of your swimming pool.  The pH scale should read between 7.2 to 7.8 for safe swimming.

Winterize Your Swimming Pool

To prevent your pipes from freezing, you will have to use a air compressor to blow the water out of the plumbing of the pool which is called winterization. This will prevent damage within your pipes.
